InterDigital Signs Patent License with Sony Covering Cellular, WiFi and Video Patents

InterDigital signed a patent license agreement with Sony covering all Sony end-user devices under its global standard essential cellular, WiFi and video patents. In FY2025 InterDigital reported near-record revenue of $834.0 million (including $678.9 million from smartphones) and non-GAAP EPS of $15.31.

1. New Patent Agreement with Sony

On February 17 InterDigital entered into a patent license agreement with Sony that grants Sony rights to use InterDigital’s global portfolio of standard essential cellular, Wi-Fi and video patents across all end-user devices.

2. FY2025 Financial Performance

For fiscal year 2025 InterDigital generated near-record total revenue of $834.0 million, including $678.9 million from smartphone licensing, while catch-up revenue totaled $277.4 million versus $460.1 million in the prior year from Samsung TV, OPPO and Lenovo agreements.

3. Recurring Revenue and Cost Reduction

Elevated recurring licensing fees and reduced operating expenses drove GAAP EPS of $11.80 and non-GAAP EPS of $15.31, reflecting improved margins and a strengthened financial profile.
