Intuitive Unveils 100+ da Vinci 5 Updates and Extends Instrument Uses to 15
Intuitive will deploy over 100 user-experience updates to its da Vinci 5 platform in June, including OR telepresence, mobile console login, a digital ruler and multi-arm targeting. Five Force Feedback instruments will increase uses from six to 15, while a 99% uptime guarantee and instrument encryption bolster reliability and security.
1. da Vinci 5 Platform Enhancements
Starting in June, Intuitive will roll out more than 100 updates to its da Vinci 5 platform, featuring enhanced OR telepresence with expanded camera views and live cursor, mobile phone console login with multifactor authentication, a digital ruler for intraoperative measurements, plus new SimNow 2 simulation exercises, surgeon-initiated tool ejection and multi-arm targeting.
2. Instrument Usage Increases
Five of six Force Feedback instruments will see their approved uses rise from six to 15 procedures (one cleared for 10), reducing per-case costs and supporting planned extended use expansions for core instruments in 2027 based on ongoing design improvements and testing.
3. Reliability and Security Upgrades
Intuitive’s dV5 Complete Care plan guarantees 98% uptime and currently exceeds 99% actual availability across over 1,400 systems with 380,000 procedures performed. Instrument encryption technology has been enhanced to strengthen cybersecurity and product monitoring across its surgical platforms.
