ION Network deploys Ciena WaveLogic 6 Extreme on ICS1 submarine cable system
CIEN•Ciena wins order for ICS1 submarine network
- Ciena won an order from ION Network to deploy WaveLogic 6 Extreme coherent optics on the ION Cable System 1 submarine network.
- ICS1 spans more than 2,000 km from Jakarta to Singapore, with a protected Sumatra terrestrial route.
- The system will use Ciena’s 6500 platform to deliver up to 1.2 Tb/s wavelengths, with up to 24 Tb/s end-to-end capacity.
- ION targets higher reliability for more than 250,000 homes across Bali, Java, and Sumatra.
- ICS1 is scheduled to enter service at the end of 2026.
