Iran will make no nuclear concessions, Iranian official says
USO•Iran will not make concessions on its nuclear program, and says the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States meets all its demands. Iran’s proposal includes lifting the US blockade on Iranian ports, releasing frozen funds and waiving oil sanctions.
1. Iran sets conditions
A senior Iranian official said Iran would not show flexibility over its nuclear program even if the United States accepts Tehran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway will remain closed until the United States meets all of Iran’s conditions, the official said.
2. Terms of proposal
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the proposal calls for hostilities to end on all fronts within seven days, the United States to lift its blockade on Iranian ports, release Iran’s frozen funds and waive oil sanctions. Tehran says it is prepared to negotiate its nuclear program in detail only after its conditions are met.
3. Nuclear positions
The official said Iran would make no concessions on its rights, including uranium enrichment or shipping highly enriched uranium out of the country. The International Atomic Energy Agency estimated Iran had 440.9 kg of uranium enriched to 60% when Israel and the United States attacked Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025; how much survived is unclear. Iranian authorities have said Iran could agree to dilute its most highly enriched uranium.
