IREN will develop an 800MW data center campus in Bundey, South Australia, secured by a four-330kV-feeder transmission agreement and energizing by 2028. The first Australian project provides submarine fiber links to key Asia-Pacific markets and supports over 500 construction roles plus 200 ongoing skilled jobs.
IREN has signed a transmission connection agreement to develop an 800MW data center campus in Bundey, South Australia, marking its first investment in Australia.
The project secures four 330kV feeder exits into the local substation without network upgrades and includes submarine fiber connectivity to Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan.
Early works and procurement will run alongside regulatory approvals, with energization slated to begin in 2028; construction is expected to employ over 500 workers and sustain 200 skilled roles.
The Bundey campus addresses growing Asia-Pacific AI demand, leverages South Australia’s renewable energy target of 100% by 2027, and strengthens IREN’s global data center footprint.
