iRhythm launches Academy, shows 48% arrhythmia in CKD and 2.8x AF risk
iRhythm presented retrospective analyses at ACC.26 showing clinically actionable arrhythmias in 48% of chronic kidney disease patients and 6.5% AF detection in severe obesity using its Zio monitoring service. The company also launched iRhythm Academy clinician education platform and highlighted AI scalability in cardiology at its annual keynote.
1. Arrhythmia Prevalence in CKM Continuum
iRhythm’s retrospective analysis of 657,147 patients receiving 14-day Zio monitoring linked to claims data found clinically actionable arrhythmias in 48% of chronic kidney disease patients and 47% of those with both diabetes and CKD, compared with 39% in diabetes-only and 35% in patients without these conditions.
2. Obesity-Linked AF Risk
A separate study of 162,531 individuals showed atrial fibrillation detection rising from 4.5% in normal/underweight patients to 6.5% in those with severe obesity, with severe obesity associated with a 2.8-fold adjusted odds ratio for AF compared with normal/underweight patients.
3. Education Platform and AI Scale
iRhythm unveiled iRhythm Academy, a digital clinician education platform for ambulatory cardiac monitoring, and its Chief Medical Officer presented a keynote on operationalizing AI in cardiology to integrate data streams and improve real-world outcomes.
