Itron Achieves 11% Emission Cut in 2025, Enables 8.7M Tons GHG Avoided
ITRI•Itron’s 2025 sustainability report shows an 11% year-over-year cut in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 56% cumulative decline from its 2019 baseline, reinforcing its carbon neutrality by 2035. Its portfolio enabled utilities to avoid 8.7 million metric tons of GHG emissions—over 690 times Itron’s own operational footprint.
1. Emissions Reductions
In 2025 Itron cut its operational Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 11% year-over-year, bringing total reductions to 56% compared with its 2019 baseline. The company reaffirmed its carbon neutrality target by 2035 and its pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
2. Customer Impact
Itron’s intelligent infrastructure solutions enabled utilities to avoid at least 8.7 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions in 2025—over 690 times the company’s own operational footprint—through demand response, distributed intelligence, consumer engagement and more efficient energy and water operations.
3. Governance and Community Initiatives
Itron strengthened governance with formal anti-money laundering policies and 100% completion of its code of conduct training, earned recognition among the world’s most ethical companies, achieved ISO 45001 safety certification in France and contributed more than $500,000 to over 440 community organizations.
