Itron Secures 10,000 Ultrasonic Water Meters for Corsica Utility to Save 5M m3
ITRI•Itron has secured a contract with Corsica utility OEHC to replace 10,000 mechanical water meters with ultrasonic Intelis wSource models, aiming to improve billing accuracy and remote data collection. The project targets saving 5 million cubic meters of water annually by 2035.
1. Scope of Deployment
Itron will replace 10,000 existing mechanical meters with Intelis wSource ultrasonic solid-state water meters across Corsica by 2030, supporting OEHC’s target of saving 5 million cubic meters of water annually by 2035.
2. Technology Features
The Intelis wSource meters provide remote reading capability, MID-certified billing-grade metrology and resilient performance in harsh environments, enabling accurate consumption measurement and efficient data collection over OEHC’s 3,000 kilometers of pipelines.
3. Impact on OEHC Operations
By upgrading meters, OEHC expects to increase billable water from roughly 50% of delivered volume to near 100%, improving revenue capture and customer satisfaction while gaining detailed usage insights to optimize allocations between agricultural and urban needs.
