Jacobs unit PA Consulting joins Cosine-led consortium to develop UK sovereign frontier AI model
J•J•J•J•Jacobs’ PA Consulting joined a Cosine-led coalition to co-design Lumen Sovereign, billed as the UK’s first fully sovereign frontier AI model.
The initiative’s initial focus is a nuclear-trained large language model for UK civil and defense nuclear operators to address skills gaps and preserve expertise.
The work aims to support sovereign AI deployment across other highly regulated sectors, including government, defense, financial services, healthcare and critical infrastructure.
The initiative aligns with UK efforts to expand domestic AI capability, including the Sovereign AI program and an AI Hardware Plan.
