James Hardie posts 67% jump in second-quarter profit
JHX•James Hardie reported adjusted net income of $248.5 million for the quarter ended September 30, up from $148.4 million a year earlier. Its fiscal 2027 adjusted EBITDA forecast of $1.45 billion to $1.53 billion was below the $1.58 billion consensus estimate.
1. Profit rises
James Hardie Industries reported a 67% rise in second-quarter profit, supported by its North America fiber cement segment and ahead-of-schedule cost synergies from its AZEK acquisition. Adjusted net income was $248.5 million, beating the $218.9 million consensus estimate.
2. Sales and outlook
Net sales at Siding & Trim, the company’s biggest profit-generating segment, rose 15%, supported by fiber cement volume growth and favourable price realisation. James Hardie forecast fiscal 2027 adjusted EBITDA of $1.45 billion to $1.53 billion. CEO Aaron Erter said its plan does not depend on a near-term recovery in the challenging U.S. housing market, particularly new construction.
