Japan exports rise 19.3% year/year in August

TOKYO, Sept. 16 (Reuters) - Japanese exports rose 19.3% year-on-year in August, up for a 12th straight month, data from the Ministry of Finance showed on Wednesday.
The result compared with an 18.2% increase expected by economists in a Reuters poll.
Imports grew 28% in August from a year earlier, versus a 26.3% increase expected by economists.
As a result, the trade balance stood at a deficit of 1.106 trillion yen ($7.12 billion), compared with the forecast of a deficit of 1.053 trillion yen.
