Joby Aviation to acquire defense tech firm Resonant Sciences for about $500 million

Joby Aviation agreed to buy defense technology company Resonant Sciences for about $500 million, expanding its defense business with an EBITDA-positive platform.
The consideration is set at about $450 million in cash and $50 million in Joby common stock. The stock price for the equity portion was fixed at signing.
Resonant generated more than $100 million in trailing-12-month revenue, up about 40% year over year, with high-teens adjusted EBITDA margins.
Resonant is set to become Joby’s dedicated defense unit, keeping the Resonant Sciences name under CEO J. Micah North. Closing is targeted for the first half of 2027, subject to customary conditions.
