Johnson Controls delivered over 40% stock gain in 2025 backed by its new Coolant Distribution Unit for high-density AI server cooling and a $16 billion commercial backlog driving recurring service revenue. Its Sensormatic Solutions unit will add TrueVUE Cloud as a PaaS offering in March 2026, expanding its software-as-a-service portfolio.

1. JCI Poised to Capitalize on Sustained CapEx Spending

Johnson Controls International reported a sector-leading gain of over 40% in 2025, driven by robust demand for building modernization and energy-efficient systems. As governments and enterprise clients continue multi-year infrastructure and sustainability programs, JCI’s order backlog stands at more than $16 billion, providing multi-year visibility into revenue and earnings. Long-term contracts with data centers, hospitals and educational institutions underpin a recurring revenue stream that should insulate performance from near-term economic fluctuations.

2. Coolant Distribution Unit Launch Strengthens AI Data Center Offering

In December JCI introduced its Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) to support liquid cooling in high-density AI server environments. Early commercial deployments with hyperscale customers demonstrated energy-use reductions of up to 25% compared with traditional air-cooled architectures. The CDU integrates with JCI’s OpenBlue buildingautomation platform, creating cross-sell opportunities for software, remote monitoring and predictive maintenance services that typically carry gross margins above 50%.
