Johnson Controls Opens 4,100 sqm Danish Facility, Doubling Heat Pump Capacity

JCIJCI

Johnson Controls expanded its Holme, Denmark heat pump and chiller facility with 2,300 sqm of new production space and an 1,800 sqm test and customer centre, doubling output capacity and complying with EN 14511 standards. The 100% green energy expansion adds over 100 jobs and strengthens its European manufacturing footprint.

1. Facility Expansion Details

The Holme, Denmark facility has been extended by 2,300 square meters of production space and an 1,800 square meter customer experience and testing centre, modernizing existing buildings to support high-capacity heat pump and chiller manufacturing. The expansion project includes advanced testing capabilities for precision trials under extreme conditions.

2. Operational Impact and Capacity

The added production and testing areas effectively double the plant’s heat pump output capacity, enabling Johnson Controls to design, build and validate large-scale equipment for district heating, public infrastructure and industrial applications. The project creates over 100 local jobs and runs on 100% green energy to strengthen operational resilience.

3. Environmental and Regulatory Alignment

The customer and test centre is compliant with EN 14511 testing standards, allowing customers to verify performance under European Heat Pump Association protocols. Production uses zero and low global warming potential refrigerants to meet upcoming EU regulations taking effect in 2027 and 2030.

4. Strategic Implications for Europe

This expansion enhances Johnson Controls’ European manufacturing footprint alongside sites in Nantes, Milan, Cork and Budapest, supporting its mission-critical building systems and decarbonization services. By scaling local production, it reduces reliance on imported fossil fuels and accelerates electrification of heat across energy-intensive industries.
