June shipments of foreign branded phones in China jumped 66.3%, CAICT data shows

BEIJING, July 29 (Reuters) - Shipments of foreign-branded phones within China including those from Apple Inc AAPL.O soared 66.3% to 3.28 million handsets in June, according to Reuters calculations based on data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
Overall phone shipments within China fell 15.3% from a year earlier to 19.15 million handsets in June, data from the government-affiliated research company showed on Wednesday.
