Kazia Therapeutics files provisional patent for strategy to prevent metastatic recurrence in triple-negative breast cancer

Kazia Therapeutics said it filed a provisional patent application for a paxalisib-based strategy aimed at preventing metastatic recurrence in high-risk early-stage triple-negative breast cancer.
Preclinical and ex vivo results support earlier-stage development
In a perioperative preclinical model, adjuvant paxalisib cut residual disease and local recurrence by 95% (p<0.0001) and reduced lung metastatic burden by 40% (p<0.027), the company said.
Kazia also said ex vivo patient tumor samples showed paxalisib disrupted 100% of detected circulating tumor cell clusters, supporting expansion into earlier-stage TNBC development.
