Kenorland Launches C$3.2m Drilling Programme at Western Wabigoon W2
CGAU•Kenorland Minerals has launched a C$3.2 million drill campaign at its 71,140 ha Western Wabigoon W2 project, planning up to 3,650 metres of diamond drilling along a 2.5 km strike length. This summer’s programme features 250–500 m spaced fences, HMC till surveys and mapping across high-strain corridors near the Cameron and Rainy River deposits.
1. Drill Programme Launch
Under its option agreement with a Centerra Gold subsidiary, Kenorland Minerals has commenced its inaugural diamond drill programme at the Western Wabigoon W2 project in northwestern Ontario. The campaign will run through late June, targeting a 2.5 km strike length.
2. Funding and Scope
Centerra has allocated C$3.2 million to fund this summer’s exploration, covering up to 3,650 metres of diamond drilling, heavy mineral concentrate till surveys, mapping and prospecting across the 71,140 ha land package.
3. Geological Setting
The W2 project lies within the Archean Western Wabigoon subprovince, intersecting the Pipestone-Cameron, Manitou-Dinorwic and Helena-Pipestone deformation zones. These high-strain corridors host the Cameron deposit 30 km to the northwest and the Rainy River deposit 50 km southwest.
4. Historical Exploration Findings
Systematic exploration since 2024 identified a 3 km gold-in-till anomaly, with trenching and shallow drilling yielding multi-gram gold results. Surface samples have returned up to 7.75 g/t gold, underscoring the target’s potential.
