Key central bankers to meet in Istanbul to discuss global policy challenges
SPY•Twenty-four central bankers, including Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller and Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey, are scheduled to attend the Istanbul Economic Forum on October 8-9. They will discuss inflation, monetary policy and the global economic outlook.
1. Forum participants
The two-day forum is scheduled to include 16 central bank governors and eight deputy governors, along with the finance ministers of Turkey and Egypt and officials from international financial institutions. Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek is due to give the opening speech, and Turkish Central Bank Governor Murat Karahan is also scheduled to attend.
2. Topics on the agenda
Participants will discuss navigating a fragmenting global economy, monetary policy under uncertainty, debt dynamics, and the implications of artificial intelligence and digital innovation for macroeconomic policy. Speeches and panels are scheduled to be broadcast online.
