Knicks chase back-to-back banner in NBA built to stop dynasties
MSGS•The Knicks are chasing a second straight NBA title after winning their first in 53 years, with their five top players returning. The NBA has had eight different champions in the last eight seasons.
1. Knicks bring back core
New York returns Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns from its title-winning roster. The team is seeking a repeat in a league that has crowned eight different champions in the last eight seasons.
2. James opens in New York
LeBron James begins his Philadelphia 76ers career at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, just after the Knicks raise their championship banner. James said he would have liked to play for New York, but that the opportunity closed after the team won the title. He will reportedly live part-time in New York and commute by helicopter.
3. Other title contenders
Philadelphia also has Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. The article says the fit could be a challenge because all five players are accustomed to having the ball. San Antonio, Oklahoma City and Golden State are also seeking titles.
