SPY•Kremlin says it is in touch with Iran amid new escalation
MOSCOW, July 16 (Reuters) - The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russia was in touch with officials in Iran amid what it called another cycle of destabilisation fraught with risks for the global economy.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov gave no details of the contacts but told reporters that Iranian authorities had not requested a phone call with President Vladimir Putin.
Russia has repeatedly called on both Iran and the United States to refrain from escalation.
