Kremlin says diesel export ban should support domestic market

MOSCOW, Sept 14 (Reuters) - The Kremlin said on Monday that the situation in global energy markets was worsening, mainly due to instability in the Middle East, and that an export ban on diesel should help boost the domestic market in Russia.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was answering a question about U.S. President Donald Trump's request on the weekend to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to halt strikes on Russian diesel infrastructure.

Moscow welcomed Trump's request, Peskov told reporters, adding that Russian officials would discuss resuming diesel exports once domestic fuel supplies had stabilised.
