KT faces $386 million counterclaim in Rwanda arbitration dispute
KT•Rwanda’s government and related entities filed a counterclaim against KT seeking KRW 512.42 billion, or about $386 million, in a Permanent Court of Arbitration dispute. KT plans to challenge the damages calculation, which it says relies on the claimants’ unilateral assumptions.
1. Arbitration counterclaim
The counterclaim was filed on October 20, 2026, and confirmed on October 21. It alleges breaches of a shareholders’ agreement and challenges KT’s original arbitration claim seeking about $152 million in put-option payments. The counterclaim totals KRW 512.42 billion, equivalent to 2.63% of KT’s equity.
