Shares of drugmaker Kura Oncology rose 10.4% to $10.99.
The company reported a Q2 loss of 77 cents per share, compared with analysts' average loss estimate of 88 cents per share, according to LSEG data.
Kura reported R&D expense of $61.9 million for the quarter, compared with analysts' average estimate of $67.5 million.
The company generated $9.1 million in Q2 net product revenue, up 57% from Q1, on sales of its blood cancer drug Komzifti.
Kura said 115 new patients started on Komzifti in Q2, up 35% from the first quarter.
Wedbush analyst Robert Driscoll said, "We believe the increase in new patient starts indicated growing physician preference for Komzifti over competition."
Including the session's move, the stock was up 6% year to date.
