Kyndryl Launches Cloud Uplift in Canadian Azure Regions for IBM Workloads
Kyndryl Cloud Uplift is now available in Microsoft Canadian datacentre regions, marking the 14th Azure region and fifth geographic rollout since the May 2024 Skytap acquisition. The service enables Canadian enterprises to migrate IBM Power workloads as-is, maintain performance and keep data within Canada while accessing modern cloud services.
1. Canadian Availability
Kyndryl Cloud Uplift is now accessible in Microsoft Canadian datacentre regions, marking the service’s entry into Canada as the fifth geographic rollout since its May 2024 acquisition of Skytap and the fourteenth Microsoft Azure region overall.
2. Service Capabilities
The platform allows enterprises to replicate and run IBM Power workloads (AIX, IBM i, Linux) on Azure without re-architecting applications, ensuring performance consistency and low-risk migration while maintaining on-premises configurations as-is.
3. Data Residency and Compliance
By keeping data within Canadian borders, the service addresses regulatory and geopolitical concerns for 81% of leaders and offers a compliant path to modernization, scalable operations and gradual AI integration.
