The agreement centers on integrating Safe Pro’s Object Threat Detection algorithms with the Qualcomm Dragonwing QRB5165 chip on the Open-Q 5165RB SOM to enable high-performance, power-efficient on-device AI processing.

3. Defense Applications

The embeddable chipsets target real-time mine and small-threat detection on drones and unmanned aerial systems, including Red Cat Holding’s Teal Black Widow quadcopter for the US Army, without relying on cloud connectivity.

4. Strategic Outlook

By embedding AI at the network edge and integrating outputs into Android Tactical Assault Kit, Lantronix aims to accelerate its Edge AI strategy and capitalize on growing defense IoT and drone security markets.
