1. Airlines reassess Venezuela
Latin American airlines are showing renewed interest in Venezuela as diplomatic channels reopen and carriers prepare to restore links to Caracas. Executives said damaged airport infrastructure and an outdated regulatory framework remain obstacles to a broader recovery.
2. LATAM weighs opportunities
LATAM Airlines said it was encouraged by the reopening process and improving diplomatic conditions between Santiago and Caracas. Chief Executive Roberto Alvo did not announce additional routes, but said the airline would evaluate opportunities to develop connectivity to Venezuela as conditions improve.
3. Infrastructure remains a hurdle
Peter Cerda, head of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association, said rebuilding the aviation platform was an immediate priority after deadly June earthquakes damaged Maiquetía, the main international gateway outside Caracas. He said airlines in the United States, Europe and the Middle East were also looking again at Venezuela.
