Levi’s Launches 1M-Hectare Regenerative Farming Program in Pakistan to Plant 100,000 Trees

Levi Strauss & Co. launched its Regenerative and Resilient Landscape Initiative in Pakistan’s Multan district, part of a 1 million-hectare global program targeting improved water productivity, reduced synthetic inputs, increased soil organic matter and planting 100,000 trees by December 2028. Pakistan supplied 30% of Levi’s cotton in 2023.

1. Initiative Overview

Levi Strauss & Co. launched the Regenerative and Resilient Landscape Initiative in January 2026 in Jalalpur Pirwala, Pakistan, extending to a 1 million-hectare multi-country program across Brazil, India, Pakistan and Tanzania. It funds partnerships to adopt regenerative agriculture methods that conserve resources and build climate resilience.

2. Environmental and Agronomic Goals

The program aims by December 2028 to boost water productivity, lower synthetic fertilizer and pesticide use, increase soil organic matter and plant 100,000 trees, enhancing biodiversity and carbon capture across participating cotton farms.

3. Supply Chain Security and Farmer Resilience

With Pakistan supplying 30% of Levi’s cotton in 2023, LRI focuses on lowering input costs, supporting climate adaptation and strengthening economic resilience for farming families while engaging governmental agencies to drive sustainable practice adoption.
