LG Energy Solution started production at a new 226-acre battery plant in Lansing, Michigan.
More than $2 billion has been invested in the facility since 2022, and the company said annual capacity is targeted above 35 GWh at full-scale output.
The plant makes LFP cells for energy storage systems and also plans to produce NMC cells for Toyota electric vehicles.
Workforce at the site is currently near 900, with employment expected to rise to 1,700 at full production.
The expansion lifts LG Energy Solution’s Michigan footprint to two plants, and total investment in the state now exceeds $5 billion since 2010.
