Lithium Americas publishes investor presentation on Thacker Pass Phase 1 construction, path to U.S. lithium production
LAC•GM stake and funding package highlighted
General Motors holds a 38% asset-level interest and has a 20-year offtake for up to 100% of Phase 1 volumes.
The funding package highlighted includes a US$ 2.23 billion DOE loan, a US$ 250 million Orion investment and up to US$ 175 million in convertible debentures.
Thacker Pass Phase 1 targets near-term production
Lithium Americas outlined a path to near-term production at Thacker Pass Phase 1, targeting mechanical completion in late 2027.
Commercial ramp-up is planned for 2028, with the first year at full capacity expected in 2029.
Phase 1 is designed for 40,000 tonnes a year of battery-grade lithium carbonate, with longer-term expansion potential to 160,000 tonnes a year.
