SPY•Single stocks to watch
In terms of corporate news, it's also looking like a relatively quiet end to the week.
A couple of single stocks to watch though are Austrian construction company Strabag STRV.VI, which upgraded its full-year guidance following strong results in the first half, and Germany's Bertelsmann BTGGg.F. The media and services group raised its 2026 outlook on Friday, citing a positive business performance and M&A activity.
Markets await Jackson Hole speech
Pretty much everyone, everywhere is waiting for Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's speech at the Jackson Hole Symposium later in the day.
Markets will be following along extremely closely, especially as they are still trying to make sense of Warsh's sparse communication style that has so far caused some confusion, and strong reactions.
For now though, European futures are pointing to some cautious optimism. Euro STOXX 50 futures STXEc1 are up 0.4%, as are CAC FCEc1 and DAX futures FDXc1. FTSE futures are meanwhile 0.2% higher.
