UK-based armsmaker stocks also rose, the day after former defence secretary John Healey was appointed finance minister by new Prime Minister Andy Burnham. Shares in Babcock International BAB.L were last up 8%. An index of European aerospace and defence stocks .SXPARO led sectoral gains, up 1.45%.

Stoxx pushes higher as markets look to shake off uncertainty
Europe's STOXX 600 .STOXX is on the rise, last up 0.21%, as markets are trying to make gains and shake off any uncertainty from the Middle East to UK politics.
FTSE .FTSE shares have pared back earlier losses and are now virtually flat on the day, while the DAX .GDAXI and CAC .FCHI are both around 0.1% higher.
