SPY•European shares rise as oil tumbles
European shares got off to a positive start on Monday in a week packed with corporate earnings, as oil prices tumbled after a pause in U.S.-Iran hostilities, providing inflation relief ahead of key central bank meetings.
The STOXX 600 .STOXX rose 0.5%, off earlier highs, with travel and leisure .SXTP leading a broad-based rally as 77% of the region-wide index's constituents traded in positive territory.
Oil & gas .SXEP and utilities .SX6P were the only sectors in the red, falling 2% and 0.4%, respectively.
London's FTSE 100 .FTSE added 0.3%.
Shares in Asia rose and U.S. futures also pointed to gains later on Wall Street.
