LYG•Lloyds calls for climate-resilient infrastructure investment to be treated as national security priority
Lloyds Banking Group urged the UK to treat climate-resilient infrastructure investment as a national security priority in a new report.
It estimated an annual GBP 11 billion climate adaptation investment gap, citing Climate Change Committee figures.
The report flagged public guarantees, private capital and risk-sharing structures as key to accelerating financing across water, energy and the built environment.
The group said it is committed to more than GBP 100 billion of sustainable and transition finance for 2027-2030, including adaptation and resilience.
Examples cited include a GBP 3 billion water project, GBP 238.5 million solar financing, and a GBP 500 million university program backed by GBP 350 million in guarantees.
