Local Bounti Facilities at Full Capacity, Secures AI Crop Optimization Patent
VFF•Local Bounti’s Georgia, Texas and Washington Stack & Flow facilities are operating at full harvestable capacity with all run-rate output committed to retail partners. The company has expanded its product portfolio to over 25 SKUs and secured U.S. Patent No. 12,557,741 for AI-driven crop optimization.
1. Patent Strengthens IP Protection
The U.S. Patent No. 12,557,741 granted in February 2026 covers methods using computer vision, machine learning and automated controls to optimize plant growth across the company’s hybrid vertical nursery and greenhouse system, enhancing data-driven yield improvements and protecting both hardware design and software operating layers.
2. Full Capacity at Stack & Flow Facilities
Local Bounti’s Georgia, Texas and Washington Stack & Flow-enabled facilities are operating at full harvestable capacity, with the entire run-rate production committed to retail customers, underscoring the efficiency of its hybrid CEA model and potential constraints on near-term volume growth without new expansions.
3. Expanded SKU Breadth to 25+ Retail Products
The company has broadened its portfolio beyond living lettuce to more than 25 SKUs, including arugula, cress, packaged leafy greens and salad kits across organic and conventional varieties, boosting shelf presence and diversifying revenue streams in fresh and value-added produce segments.
4. Distribution Network and Expansion Plans
Local Bounti distributes to approximately 13,000 retail doors across 35 states through direct relationships with major grocers and club channels; management is evaluating additional Midwest capacity expansions tied to retailer commitments to match regional supply with demand.
