Local Bounti Facilities Operate at Full Capacity as New AI Patent Granted
DOLE•Local Bounti’s Georgia, Texas and Washington Stack & Flow–enabled facilities are operating at full harvestable capacity with run‐rate output fully committed to customers. The company has expanded its retail portfolio to over 25 SKUs and strengthened its IP with U.S. Patent No. 12,557,741 covering AI‐driven hybrid greenhouse optimization.
1. Facility Network and Capacity
Local Bounti operates a distributed network across Georgia, Texas and Washington Stack & Flow–enabled facilities, all running at full harvestable capacity with run-rate output fully committed to retail customers. Legacy sites in Montana and California remain under evaluation for future commercial use as the company evaluates retailer demand and potential Midwest expansions.
2. Technology and Operations
The patented Stack & Flow system combines vertical nurseries with greenhouse grow-out, leveraging AI and computer vision to optimize growth parameters such as temperature, humidity, and nutrients. This hybrid approach delivers higher yields and lower unit costs, adaptable across deep water culture, gutter and rolling bench formats, supporting over 25 SKUs.
3. Intellectual Property Expansion
In February 2026 the company secured U.S. Patent No. 12,557,741, protecting methods that use machine learning and automated environmental controls to optimize plant growth in its hybrid growing environment. This IP reinforces Local Bounti’s data-driven optimization layer, enhancing consistency, yield improvements and transferability across its production network.
4. Commercial Model and Retail Distribution
Local Bounti distributes products to roughly 13,000 retail doors across 35 states through direct partnerships with blue-chip grocers, including Albertsons, Kroger, Walmart and Whole Foods. The company’s strategy matches regional production capacity with committed demand, with retailer discussions underway for additional Midwest capacity expansion.
