Lockheed Martin debuts PAC-3 Edge interceptor with new seeker, propulsion upgrades
LMT•Lockheed Martin unveiled PAC-3 Edge on Oct. 12, 2026, for the U.S. Army’s Future Interceptor competition. The design targets longer-range, higher-altitude engagements, with a goal of residual operational capability by 2031.
1. Interceptor development
PAC-3 Edge development centers on a new seeker from the Strigo Product Center, propulsion upgrades and control-system improvements. The interceptor is designed to complement PAC-3 MSE and THAAD against air, missile and hypersonic threats.
2. Separate integration test
Separately, a PAC-3 MSE flight test with IBCS and LTAMDS marked integration progress toward a 360-degree engagement goal.
