Lockheed Martin says MORFIUS X-Rotor HPM system neutralizes 50-plus drones per flight
LMT•Lockheed Martin said its airborne MORFIUS X-Rotor high-power microwave system demonstrated the ability to neutralize more than 50 drones in one flight. The company also outlined counter-drone development involving Sanctum, GRIZZLY, Saildrone and HIMARS FLEX.
1. Counter-drone development
Lockheed Martin outlined counter-drone research and development centered on Sanctum, an AI- and cloud-enabled battle manager designed to adapt across engagements. The company said MORFIUS X-Rotor demonstrated the ability to neutralize more than 50 drones in one flight.
2. Launcher and naval tests
The GRIZZLY containerized launcher completed live-fire demonstrations across multiple launch modes, including a counter-UAS configuration guided by Sanctum. A Surveyor-class Saildrone unmanned surface vessel fired two live JAGM rounds near Hawaii during RIMPAC 2026, validating USV launch integration.
3. HIMARS FLEX plans
HIMARS FLEX remained in development, targeting a doubled loadout, open-architecture munitions integration and autonomous control while retaining C-130 transportability.
