Lockheed Martin showcases NetSense counter-UAS system using 5G and AI to detect drones
LMT•Lockheed Martin outlined research and development on Oct. 2, 2026, including NetSense, a counter-UAS system that uses existing infrastructure, advanced signal processing and AI to detect, track and alert on low-cost drone threats.
1. Defense technology programs
Lockheed Martin outlined work on integrated, real-time architectures linking sensing, communications, decision-making, platforms and weapons. The company also highlighted autonomous underwater vehicles, a next-generation geostationary orbit program for space-based missile sensing, and digital integration linking the F-35 with air and missile defense systems such as PAC-3.
