Lucid Unveils Sensor-Integrated Gravity Robotaxi, Begins Bay Area Autonomous Testing

LCIDLCID

Lucid Group, Nuro, and Uber unveiled a production-intent Lucid Gravity robotaxi at CES 2026 with a next-gen sensor array and Uber-designed in-cabin interface. Nuro-led on-road testing began in December in the San Francisco Bay Area, with production set for Lucid’s Arizona factory and service targeted for late 2026.

1. Lucid Joins Nuro and Uber to Unveil Production-Intent Robotaxi at CES 2026

At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Lucid Group partnered with Nuro and Uber to showcase the production-intent version of the Lucid Gravity-based robotaxi designed for Level 4 autonomy. The vehicle integrates a next-generation sensor suite—high-resolution cameras, solid-state lidar and radar—distributed throughout the Gravity chassis and a low-profile roof-mounted halo module. Halo-embedded LEDs will display rider initials and vehicle status, while in-cabin interactive screens offer heated-seat and climate controls, entertainment options, support contact and pull-over requests. A real-time visualization display will let passengers monitor the vehicle’s perception and planned path, including lane changes, pedestrian yields and traffic-signal responses. Lucid’s contribution leverages its all-electric Gravity platform for a spacious six-passenger layout with ample luggage room, and will be powered by NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor compute modules as part of the DRIVE Hyperion architecture. Nuro began supervised on-road testing in the San Francisco Bay Area in December, advancing validation toward a planned commercial rollout later in 2026.

2. Lucid Reports Record 2025 Production and Delivery Growth

Lucid closed 2025 with a full-year production total of 18,378 vehicles, a 104% increase over 2024, and delivered 15,841 units, up 55% year-over-year. Production accelerated sharply in the fourth quarter, with 8,412 vehicles built (116% quarter-on-quarter growth), and deliveries reached 5,345 units (31% sequential growth). The firm achieved its lowered guidance of roughly 18,000 units for the year by overcoming early Gravity SUV supply-chain constraints and software challenges. Lucid will discuss full fourth-quarter financial results on February 24, 2026, and has introduced a shareholder Q&A platform in partnership with Say Technologies to allow retail and institutional investors to submit and upvote questions ahead of its earnings call.
