Lumen Technologies Projects 2030 Price Target of $9.88 on AI Fiber Expansion
Since July 1, 2024, Lumen shares surged 540% as it secured AI-focused fiber deals with Microsoft, IBM and Google Cloud, driving a multi-billion-dollar program to add 34 million fiber miles by 2028 and refinance debt down to $13.2 billion. 24/7 Wall St. forecasts EPS to turn positive in 2027 and a 2030 price target of $9.88 on $14.38 billion revenue.
1. Fourth Quarter 2025 Earnings Conference Call Scheduled
Lumen Technologies announced that it will release its fourth quarter and full year 2025 financial results following market close on February 3, 2026. The company will host a live broadcast of the earnings conference call at 5:00 p.m. ET on its Investor Relations website, where management will discuss year-end performance metrics, cash flow generation, and strategic priorities for 2026. Accompanying materials— including the earnings release, investor presentation and supplemental financial tables—will also be available online immediately after the call.
2. Balance Sheet Repair and Liquidity Improvement
After years of net income losses, Lumen has made tangible progress strengthening its balance sheet. As of year-end 2023, total assets stood at $34.02 billion against $33.57 billion of liabilities, reflecting near-parity for the first time in over a decade. The company has reduced gross debt to $13.2 billion through refinancing higher-cost term loans and asset divestitures, including the fiber-to-the-home business sale to AT&T. Annual interest expense is now nearly 50% lower than its peak, providing added liquidity to fund network expansion and strategic partnerships.
3. AI Infrastructure Partnerships and Fiber Expansion
Lumen’s pivot toward auxiliary AI services has been anchored by major contracts with Microsoft, IBM and Google Cloud. To support these engagements, the company is executing a multi-billion-dollar program to add 34 million fiber route miles by the end of 2028, targeting high-margin, recurring revenue from data center interconnect and edge computing applications. In the third quarter of 2024 alone, demand for high-speed fiber connectivity drove a 540% increase in usage volumes compared with the start of that quarter, underscoring strong enterprise uptake of Lumen’s AI-optimized network solutions.
4. Revenue and EPS Forecasts Through 2030
Analyst projections anticipate a return to top-line growth by 2029 and positive earnings per share in 2027. Revenue is expected to increase from $13.45 billion in 2026 (with EPS of –$0.23) to $14.38 billion in 2030, when EPS could reach $0.76. Management’s plan calls for new digital and AI-related services to offset declines in legacy offerings beginning in 2026, with sequential improvements in margin and cash flow generation supporting a sustained growth trajectory into the next decade.
