Lumentum, Astera Labs, Corning team up to demo PCIe-over-optics AI rack connectivity at 2026 OCP Summit
ALAB•Lumentum, Astera Labs and Corning plan to demonstrate PCIe-over-optics AI rack connectivity at the 2026 OCP Global Summit. The proof of concept targets multiple 32 Gb/s NRZ optical channels and demonstrates an error-free PCIe 5 link.
1. Planned demonstration
Lumentum, Astera Labs and Corning entered a collaboration to demonstrate PCIe-over-optics for AI rack-scale connectivity at the 2026 OCP Global Summit in San Jose, Oct. 12-15. The rack-level demonstration pairs Astera Labs’ Scorpio Smart Fabric Switch with Lumentum’s 1060 nm VCSEL optical interconnect platform, with Corning supplying multimode fiber connectivity.
2. Link specifications
The proof of concept targets multiple 32 Gb/s NRZ optical channels over multimode fiber, and demonstrates an error-free PCIe 5 link. The demonstration is scheduled for Astera Labs’ booth #B34.
