Transcript of Q2 2026 earnings call released
Manulife issued the transcript of its Q2 2026 earnings call on Aug. 6, attended by CEO Philip Witherington, CFO Colin Simpson, senior executives and analysts.
Management outlined an $3.2 billion long-term care reinsurance deal with Munich Re, transferring biometric risk at 80% quota share.
Deal pricing included a 5% negative cede under IFRS; NAIC ceding commission was estimated at 6%–7%; no assets were transferred.
Management said the capital impact was largely neutral, with foregone core earnings of about C$30 million in year one, declining as the block runs off.
