Mara Acquires 1,200+ Acres in Texas for $600M to Add 2GW Capacity
MARA•Mara Holdings agreed to acquire 1,200+ acres of powered land in Texas from HIF USA for up to $600 million, securing 2 GW of grid capacity by April 2028. The project will more than double Mara’s power capacity to 4.8 GW and pivot toward AI and HPC digital infrastructure.

Mara Holdings has entered into an agreement to purchase over 1,200 acres of powered land in Texas from HIF USA for a total consideration of up to $600 million. This land acquisition secures existing grid interconnections and lays the groundwork for rapid campus development.
2. Capacity Expansion
The Texas site will provide access to 2 GW of grid capacity by April 2028, increasing Mara’s total power capacity from 2.8 GW to 4.8 GW. This expansion positions the company among the largest holders of scalable energy capacity in North America.
3. Strategic Pivot
Beyond Bitcoin mining, the company plans to develop the site into a digital infrastructure campus tailored for AI and high-performance computing workloads. This shift targets higher-margin services and diversifies Mara’s business mix amid rising demand for large-scale compute facilities.
