Markel International has launched an AI Centre of Enablement within its International Portfolio Analytics team to accelerate responsible AI adoption across its five businesses, providing governance, engineering and advisory support. Maureen Tomlinson has been appointed Head of AI to lead strategy and execution of high-quality AI solutions.
1. Launch of AI Centre of Enablement
Markel International has created an AI Centre of Enablement within its International Portfolio Analytics team to drive responsible AI adoption across five business units. The CoE will provide governance frameworks, education, technical delivery and advisory support to ensure scalable, business-led AI deployments.
2. Appointment of Maureen Tomlinson as Head of AI
Maureen Tomlinson has been appointed Head of AI while retaining her role as Senior Vice President of Operations for Markel Canada. Based in Toronto, she will lead AI strategy, partner with senior leaders to identify opportunities and oversee delivery of AI solutions.

The CoE’s formation and leadership appointment aim to strengthen operational excellence by embedding AI-driven tools into underwriting, claims and broker services.
