MDA Space has opened a 185,000-square-foot satellite manufacturing facility in Montréal, doubling its production floor and enabling annual output of up to 400 MDA AURORA™ satellites. The plant uses augmented reality, advanced automation and proprietary test chambers to slash validation times and support high-volume constellation deployments.

MDA Space inaugurated a 185,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Montréal, doubling its production floor and enabling the assembly of up to 400 satellites per year. The clean-room complex reached operational status in under two years from groundbreaking.

2. Advanced Manufacturing Technologies

The new plant integrates augmented reality for technician guidance, advanced automation for repetitive tasks and proprietary test chambers, reducing validation times and boosting throughput for the MDA AURORA™ satellite line.

3. Strategic Growth for Constellation Programs

The expansion supports MDA Space’s evolution into a prime contractor for large-scale satellite constellations, with new engineering processes and performance data collection systems enhancing agility and program delivery capabilities.

4. Sustainability and Energy Efficiency

Designed to LEED standards, the facility features a green roof, rainwater harvesting and rooftop solar panels generating 78,000 kWh annually, underscoring MDA Space’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing.
