Mediacom Taps AOI’s 1.8GHz Quantum Amplifiers for DOCSIS 4.0 Upgrade to 1M Homes
Applied Optoelectronics will provide its Quantum18 MB 1.8GHz amplifiers, Quantum18 BLE line extenders and QuantumLink remote management software to support Mediacom’s DOCSIS 4.0 upgrades. Mediacom plans to extend fiber and coax capacity to 1 million homes by end-2026, with initial deployments in Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota.
1. Partnership Scope
Applied Optoelectronics will serve as the primary vendor for Mediacom’s network upgrade, supplying its Quantum18 MB 1.8GHz amplifiers, Quantum18 BLE line extenders and QuantumLink remote management and monitoring software to enhance capacity and signal quality over existing coax infrastructure.
2. Deployment and Coverage
Mediacom aims to upgrade its network to DOCSIS 4.0 standard for approximately 1 million homes by the end of 2026, building on completed deployments in Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota while leveraging a distributed access architecture with fiber expansion and whole-home Wi-Fi.
3. Distribution Support
Digicomm International, AOI’s exclusive distribution partner, will provide immediate availability and logistics services from its Englewood, Colorado stocking center, having shipped several hundred thousand 1.8GHz amplifiers to North American operators over the past year.

AOI shares surged over 24% on the day of the announcement as investors reacted to the expanded partnership with the fifth largest U.S. cable operator and the potential boost to revenue from large-scale amplifier deployments.
