Earnings outlook and recent developments
Ireland-based firm is expected to post fiscal Q1 revenue of $9.54 billion, up 12% year over year, and adjusted EPS of $1.39 versus $1.26 a year ago, per LSEG.
Earlier this month, a US jury ordered MDT to pay $88 million in the first of thousands of lawsuits over its Covidien unit's hernia mesh.
In the last quarter, MDT beat Wall Street estimates on strong heart device demand.
TD Cowen, which rates MDT "buy", said in a preview note it expects a beat-and-raise report given potential for additional CAS (Cardiac Ablation Solutions) market share gains throughout fiscal 2027 and increasing contributions from other growth drivers.
Shares edge lower ahead of quarterly results
Medical device maker Medtronic's MDT.N shares were falling 0.3% to $91 on Monday ahead of quarterly results due before the bell on Tuesday.
