1. Deal size and financing
SS&C published its 2026 PE Dealmaking Report, which found that megadeals accounted for more than 76% of invested private equity capital. Global median deal size rose to $43.5 million year to date from $40.5 million in 2025. Median equity/EBITDA reached a decade high of 7.5x, while median debt/EBITDA fell to 4.1x as higher rates reshaped financing.
2. Investment and exits
Add-on and growth-oriented investments represented over 77% of global transaction counts. Exit volumes are projected at a decade low, and the report says higher execution costs are increasing pressure on sponsors to conduct efficient due diligence.
