Merck says remigromig meets primary endpoint in BRUNELLO diabetic macular edema trial at one year
MRK•Merck said both remigromig dose regimens achieved vision outcomes comparable to monthly ranibizumab in the one-year BRUNELLO trial, meeting its primary endpoint without showing an advantage. The company flagged more proliferative diabetic retinopathy events and treatment stops in remigromig arms.
1. Trial results
Merck presented one-year results from the pivotal Phase 2b/3 BRUNELLO trial of remigromig for diabetic macular edema at AAO 2026. Both dose regimens achieved vision outcomes comparable to monthly ranibizumab, meeting the study’s main goal without showing an advantage.
2. Safety and next steps
The remigromig arms had more proliferative diabetic retinopathy events and more treatment stops than the ranibizumab arm. Merck plans regulatory discussions, with additional pivotal data expected from the ongoing BAROLO study in diabetic macular edema.
