Mereo BioPharma signs option-and-license deal with Sentynl for US rights to alvelestat in AATD lung disease

The deal includes up to $435 million in milestones; Mereo also gets double-digit tiered royalties on U.S. net sales.
Mereo will lead global Phase 3 development; the program could start in early 2027, with both sides refining trial design during the option period.

Mereo BioPharma entered an option and license deal with Sentynl for alvelestat in AATD-associated lung disease, covering U.S. commercialization rights.
Sentynl secured global manufacturing rights; Mereo retained commercial rights outside the U.S. under the agreement.
